INGREDIENTS
2 granny smith apples
1 cup self raising flour
Pinch salt
25g butter
2 teaspoons sugar
2 tablespoons water approximately
SAUCE
25g butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon golden syrup
1 ½ cups water
STEPS
Combine sauce ingredients in saucepan and stir over low heat until sugar dissolved. Bring to the boil. Remove from heat.
1. Sift flour and salt into bowl, add sugar rub in butter until resembles breadcrumbs.
2. Add water, mix to a soft dough.
3. Peel quarter and remove core of apples.
4. Divide pastry into 8 equal portions, carefully press each portion of pastry around apple ensure they are all covered. ( I some times used damp hands to do this if the pastry is sticking to my hands).
5. Place in ovenproof dish pour over sauce.
6. Bake uncovered in 150c oven for 25 to 30 minutes until golden.
7. Serve with ice cream and cream
